WALKTRAIT SUPPORT

A little help
along the way.

Record your journeys, watch familiar roads grow bolder, and keep a portrait of your day.

Email support

Include your iPhone model, iOS version, and what happened. Please omit home addresses, private route files, payment details, and passwords.

Recording a journey

Tap Start recording on the Map tab. Allow location access when asked. Pause when needed, then finish to save the journey and create a portrait. For optional background detection, open Automatic journeys and follow the permission steps.

Location accuracy depends on your surroundings and iPhone settings. After force-quitting the app, reopen it to resume automatic monitoring. Extended background recording can use additional battery.

Your map and places

Pinch to zoom, drag to explore, or tap Fit all routes. Switch between a blank map and the street map. Press and hold the map to save a place with a photo, category, and note. Use History to replay a journey or your growing map.

Explore & return

Choose a walking-time budget and a return point. Walktrait looks for a detour using Apple’s walking directions and estimates how much of it is new to your saved history. Availability varies by region. Suggested times are estimates, and conditions can change.

Remove ads

The app supports a one-time, non-subscription purchase to remove ads. Open Settings → Remove ads to see the current price and availability. If you purchased previously, use Restore Purchases with the same Apple Account. Apple handles payment and refunds.

Sharing and backups

Portraits use the iOS share sheet for compatible apps. Map-growth videos and GPX exports can also be shared. Keep endpoint hiding enabled if you want to omit areas near the beginning and end of a journey. A GPX file still contains precise coordinates and timestamps for the remaining route.

Routes, places, photos, and notes are stored on your device. Keep a device backup and export files you want to preserve. There is no Walktrait account or live shared-map sync in this version.

Deleting your data

Delete a day from Journal or a place from its editor. Settings offers an option to delete all local history. Copies you saved to Photos or shared elsewhere must be deleted separately.
