Walktrait

PRIVACY POLICY

Your journeys.
Your control.

Effective September 21, 2026 · Walktrait for iPhone

Walktrait is a personal journey journal. This page explains what stays on your device and which services are used when you choose connected features.

Routes, photos, notes, and places

Walktrait stores recorded coordinates, timestamps, journey details, selected photos, notes, and saved places in the app’s local storage. We do not upload that journal to a Walktrait server. There is no Walktrait account or live shared-map service in this version. Your iPhone’s device-backup settings may include app data in backups managed by Apple.

Location permission is used for recording and showing your current position. Optional automatic journeys use background location and motion information to detect travel. You can disable automatic journeys and change Location or Motion & Fitness permissions in iPhone Settings.

The camera and system photo picker are used only when you choose a photo feature. Images selected for app storage are re-rendered to avoid retaining the source photo’s embedded location metadata. Saving a portrait to Photos requires permission to add photos.

Apple Maps and route suggestions

Street maps, place searches, and Explore & return use Apple MapKit. Searches and directions send the information needed to Apple, including the query, relevant map area, and route endpoints or candidate waypoints. Your historical journal is not sent by our route-ranking code. These features use Apple’s services and are subject to Apple’s privacy policy.

Advertising and your choices

The free version includes Google AdMob banner advertising. Google’s SDK may process information such as IP address, approximate location inferred from it, device and app information, advertising interactions, and diagnostic information to deliver ads, measure performance, and prevent fraud. Walktrait does not supply your recorded routes, precise journal coordinates, photos, or notes to the advertising SDK.

Walktrait requests non-personalized ads and disables Google’s publisher first-party ID feature. The app does not request access to the iPhone advertising identifier through App Tracking Transparency. Non-personalized advertising can still involve data processing. Where required, Google’s consent form is shown before eligible ad requests. Available choices can be reopened from Settings → Ad privacy choices.

See Google advertising privacy and Google’s privacy policy. A verified ad-removal purchase hides ads in Walktrait.

Purchases

Apple processes payments. Walktrait uses StoreKit to verify whether your Apple Account has an active ad-removal entitlement and to restore that entitlement. We do not receive your card number. Refunds and revocations can remove the entitlement. See Apple’s standard app license.

Diagnostics and support

The public release does not send a separate Walktrait usage-diagnostics stream. Apple and advertising services may handle their own diagnostics under their policies and your settings. If you email support, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send and use them to handle your request. Avoid sending private routes or unnecessary personal information.

Optional in-app feedback and recaps

In versions that offer Send feedback, pressing Send uploads your written message and category to walktrait-events.snack-wrap.com. You may also include a reply email and app/iOS version. Our support team receives this information in a private Slack channel through our self-hosted n8n delivery service. Routes, coordinates, photos, notes, and recaps are not automatically attached. You may choose to write personal information into a message, so include only what support needs.

Pending feedback is kept in a restricted delivery queue for up to 90 days and removed from that queue after successful delivery. A request identifier, content hash, and delivery receipt may remain for up to one year to prevent duplicate requests. Support correspondence in Slack remains subject to the workspace retention settings; contact us to request deletion. Only team members and services authorized to handle support may access it.

Weekly and monthly recaps are calculated on your iPhone. Sharing a recap, including by email, is initiated by you through the system share sheet. Automatic report email delivery is not currently enabled.

Sharing and retention

Sharing is initiated by you through system controls. Shared GPX and backup files can include precise coordinates and timestamps; images and videos can reveal familiar locations from route shapes. Endpoint hiding reduces exposure but cannot guarantee anonymity. The app retains local journal data until you delete it or remove the app. Backups, Photos copies, and files shared with others may remain separately.

Deletion and requests

You can delete individual days and saved places, or erase local history in Settings. Delete exported copies separately. For questions about information sent to support, or to request access or deletion of that correspondence, email fdmk.noreply@gmail.com.

Children

Walktrait is a general-audience app and is not designed for children under 13. Please contact us if you believe a child has sent us personal information so we can address it.
